My oldest is watching her favorite TV show after school, (NCIS) and it's a re-run, of course. But this one is about a WWII Marine Medal of Honor winner who confesses to a murder he really didn't commit, anyway the plot is unimportant. A point of fact that comes out is during the investigation the main character needs to exhume the body of a Marine killed and buried on Iwo Jima in '45. As another point of fact, the main character reveals that the body no longer rests on Iwo Jima but was brought home after the island was returned to Japan in 1968.
"Dad, why did we give Iwo Jima back?" she asks me.
I have no clue. Why did we?
