A good speech...

Thompson's strongest tool was ALWAYS his ability to publicly speak. It was something he shared with Reagan, no doubt a result of their common background.

The real genius of the speech though was the guy who wrote it. What a fantastic job of keeping the focus on Mac while very nearly continuously RIPPING on Obama. There was NO better quote in that speech than when Thompson referred to the dems tax plans as "not taking water from your side of the bucket, only from the OTHER side of the bucket." A barn-yard analogy that could very well have been penned by Thompson himself, and couldn't have sounded better coming from his mouth.

No louder applause was heard than when Thompson said we needed a President that didn't think the "protection of an unborn child or a new-born baby was above his pay grade." What a fantastic slam on Obama's utterly weak defense of his voting record in the IL legislature! Tying in Mac's military record, Obama's pandering to special interests, and the Dems love of amoral position... all in one short sentence!

Damn, I wish he hadn't waited so long to get into the primary race! This guy had a shot, and wouldn't have had any of the baggage Mac is bringing to the table. This guy I can see making a great President!

Oh, well... Mac should be glad he gave that speech, and not Joe Lieberman.
