Mary Kay and Masochism ...

"Movin on up", as it were ay' Titus? Good for you, you undoubtedly deserve it. And of course people notice that picture - have you seen that stud sitting dead center? He..he.

Well as to my header I just wanted to take note of a few things. Nancy Pelosi. I think everyone here knows of the opinion I hold of her. Her qualifications (were her father not once mayor of San Fransisco) would result in the tremendously competitive world of hawking Mary Kay products out of the back of her used hatch back. Today she held a press conference to announce that the House would in fact FINALLY hold a floor vote on comprehensive energy, including expanding off-shore drilling. She gave no hints about the details of such an expansion, only that the federal government should get a large portion of the royalties (of course),versus the state from which the oil comes (the antithesis to Titus's proposal I might add - which only makes sense given they are intellectual polar opposites). The truth is that they (Democrats) had no choice - if no vote occurs the federal ban on these off-shore sites would simply expire at the end of this month and ALL areas would be open to State guided exploration. Does anyone think the GOP has the clanking big ones to filibuster and make that happen? Doubt it ...

8,000 US troops are being drawn down in Iraq with an unspecified amount now going to Afghanistan in order to corral the resurging elements of the Taliban. My immediate thoughts on this is that Afghanistan will only see results like Iraq has when we finally have a true partner as the head of the Pakistani government. The Taliban have refuge in those tribal areas along the border as we all know, and it reminds me of a certain Asian enemy of America retreating above a certain "safe line" (this time literally in the sand) every time the heat was on or they needed to regroup and resupply. History has clearly shown that being able to chase your war time enemy "up to this point and no further" can spell disaster, yet an invasion of our ally (as Obama has suggested) is asinine and could result in both the crumbling of that fragile quasi-democracy and their nuclear weapons program falling into the hands of Jihadists. A third approach must be originated by someone in the Pentagon possessing lateral thinking (and I know they exist).

The other point, if I may be so bold as to predict the future, is that history books of that future will reflect very favorably on the tremendous strides made for peace and freedom during the presidency of one George W. Bush. The details we are so wrapped up in now: successes and failures, mistakes and corrections, pro-Rummy, anti-Rummy, will be interesting chatter for the pol/history junkie of the future (like us at Gettysburg), but the over all impression will be that "Dubya" left the world a better, safer place for America (and democracies in general) during significant domestic opposition (ok not Stonewall Jackson, but opposition none the less). This of course assumes success in Iraq continues and classic liberal democratization spreads throughout that region.

Thirdly ... the attacks on Palin are making even my jaw drop. This is not the Obama-Biden campaign mind you, but left wing bloggers and political activists put up a "hoax" eBay page in which it was the down syndrome baby Trig Palin up for sale and bidding. Starting at $40 the special needs child, described as a "prop-baby for political stunts" was promoted for purchase, with a picture of Governor Palin holding her son at the RNC convention. I hope that these people end up in a Jazzy Chassis in their later years before their ultimate demise ... so that they may travel through each of Dante's levels of hell at no more then 3 miles per hour.

Add to that the fact that scores of less then friendly reporters are pouring through Wasilla, Alaska sticking a microphone into the face of Palin's former pastor asking if he ever witnessed Sarah speak in tongues. Apparently she was born Catholic, converted to Pentecostal worship at some point then in 2002 realigned herself with a non denominational Christian church. I should add that in 2002 she was in a comfortable position as mayor of Wassilla and didn't "resign" as a member of a controversial church in the middle of a political primary, like a certain presidential nominee I know. Do liberal pundits, journalists and talking heads REALLY want to get back into a discussion of religion with Obama as their nominee? What these below the belt attackers fail to understand (in my opinion) is the more they go after her from this grotesque approach, the more mainstream American voters will rally to her protection.

As it sits now the FOX Daily Tracking Poll has it Mac 48% to Obama's 45.6% with 56 days to go. The troubling aspect of current polling for Barak Vladimir Obama (outside of being behind of course) is that in a generic congressional match up the Democrats are leading 45.8% to Republicans at 40.4%. Meaning this race is a referendum on Barak.

One more thing about Palin. I have never witnessed nor read of a Vice Presidential pick causing such a stir or injecting so much energy (good and bad) into a race before. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think a VP pick has ever had this level of impact. Barak's campaign is clearly reeling from her bursting onto the national seen. She has gone from a virtual zero percent national name recognition to nearly 90%, and has carried a favorable opinion rating of comfortably over half. I must give McCain credit, it was a brilliant choice and that becomes more evident with each passing day.

Oh, forgot to mention ... he, he. Hillary has announced that although she will still stump for the Obama/Biden ticket, she will under no circumstances go after Palin as it is rumored the Obama camp privately suggested she do. Her spokesperson noted she wants to maintain her status of enabling women to break glass ceilings. He, he, he. Barak ol' buddy, you didn't really believe the Clinton's "go Barak go" rhetoric at the convention did you? They DON"T lose. And they sure as hell don't forget. If you need help handling them my advice would be to watch the Godfather at least twice ... and a couple episodes of the Sopranos wouldn't hurt either.

On Richter actually posting ... what am I supposed to do? Quit my job, abandon my children and wife? THAT is the time commitment necessary in order to properly take apart and realign the drivel which will follow. Just do me a favor, try not to retreat to the default position of dropping the f-bomb on the site. I'd like my kids to be able to read my genius one day minus the vulgarities ... I thank you.
