On 'Frisco...

I think it's all about "over-compensation".

In Jan of 1942, the US Naval Commander of West Coast Forces began working closely with the city fathers of San Francisco, CA. Their purpose? To stop suspected spies and sabatoge attempts on US defense and naval facilities.

For the next 6 months, the pace at which San Francisco worked to remove ALL ethnically Japanese people from its limits is staggering. The ONLY reason the then Governor didn't enthusiastically support the measure was because it would necessitate the importing of "troublesome" Negros and Mexican laborer to replace the "Nips".

Doubt me? Look HERE! It's all there, in their own words!

All this "pc" crap is San Francisco's way of "making up" for old sins. Perhaps they should look a little further back and see just who it was that did the bulk of the work digging survivors out of the wreckage that was San Francisco in 1906. That same link shows that it was the US Army and Navy that supplied the bulk of the food, water, and medical supplies that kept the city going in the initial months after the quake.

But they won't allow the very distinguished (damn near sacred!) USS Iowa (BB61) to take her rightful place as a museum ship in their harbor?

I say let 'em sink into the Pacific when the next one hits...
