I just wanted to add something. I am making every effort to be intellectually honest about what mistakes were made in Iraq, not to mention point out when actual reporting was occurring during that Frontline special, as I certainly have pointed out many biases. Not to mention I AM NOT a shill for the GOP as Titus seemed to elude to in his "Richter" post. To that end, Bremer was an absolute f-ing chowder head. Many times during the war Bush apologists praised the president for NOT being another Johnson - letting the generals dictate theater circumstances instead of a bathrobe clad Lyndon pointing to spots deemed untouchable on a map of South East Asia. And that praise may well be warranted but even if Bush "let them do their job" his subsequent layers of bureaucrats DID NOT. Disband the Iraqi Army? Have Americans de-Baathify the nation? You're telling me Patton can use Nazis, NAZIS for goodness sake, in order to maintain order during the early occupation, but we can't use Baathists? Add to that, the deNazification that occurred in post war Europe was done by the indigenous populations of the respective countries. They hired Germans to point out Nazis; French to point out Vichy scum; and Dutch to point out collaborationists. That wasn't American GI's shaving those hookers heads was it???
