Sometimes I get really really sick..

... and tired of the panic that bonehead articles create.

Today on my Yahoo homepage there's a front page article about the "carrier busting" missile the Chinese are working on. I didn't write the designation or the name, for all practical purposes it's a cruise missile with Tomahawk like guidance that they intend to line their shores with in the event of an American fleet operating too close.

Such sensationalistic crap like "fundamental shift in balance of power" or "near panic in the halls of the Pentagon" permeate the article. I don't know how to do the link thingie you guys do, so you'll have to just go to Yahoo.com and check it out.

Last I checked, one of our primary threats AGAINST the carriers were Soviet anti-ship missiles. So wouldn't it stand to reason that weapon systems such as Aegis Missile Cruisers, jamming, and CIWS are going to be JUST AS EFFECTIVE? Someone please show me the balance of power shift? Someone please point out the FUNDAMENTAL change? Instead of Soviets we have Chinese. A Chinese, by the way, that have long since possessed threatening land to sea missiles, along with aircraft armed with anti-ship missiles, and submarines.

But forget it, according to these guys. Scrap the super carriers. They're obsolete. Let's just roll up the mat and go home. Leave the Indian, Yellow, Japanese, Philippine and any other Sea from Cape Town to Hawaii to the Chinese. They've got a new missile, after all.

Good lord.
