Norvus Ordo Seclorum

This is the phrase inscribed on the reverse of the US $1 bill, just below the pyramid containing the all seeing eye.

Now, just that sentence alone is enough to send Illuminati, Free Mason, and Bildaberg whackadoos into frenzied states of mass hysteria. And I for one, do not count Glenn Beck among such cospiracists (sp?). But he is trending in a way that gives me some pause.

Now bare in mind, I am about to criticize Beck (on a very specific issue). This is over the objections of Rupert Murdoch, whom personally phoned me to dissuade me from such a post, and despite the RNC faxes that fly in each morning telling me what to think ... (ahem).

On his radio program Beck hysterically (in a comedic sense) noted that his audio clip of Gore Vidal's recent comments on the inefficiency of America's insistence on sovereignty (I know, how dare we), sounded remarkably (in tone and message) like Emperor Palpatine of Star Wars declaring a "new order" in that scene in which all the galactic senate is in their hovering podium flotillas, applauding wildly as the Empire is officially formed via the Sith Lord's booming speech.

Fine (not to mention, hillarious).

Beck then went on to note that this (Palpatine's intentions) isn't exactly that far off from what some would like to see here (I assume he means "earth"). And in fact (this is me talking now) a "New World Order", or one world government is openly supported (even demanded) by some really out-there leftists within the UN and around the world. In addition, this has been a goal of progressives, to "progress past" the Constitution into a more "fair" system, for some time.

So again, FINE.

But then Beck explains what is on the 1 dollar bill - Novus Ordo Seclorum. Which he states basically translates into "New World Order", and makes the point that it was a progressive, FDR, who put it on the dollar bill, suggesting this move revealed Roosevelt's desire for a one world government.

Not fine.

Now there's no question FDR was a progressive. No question that he found the Bill of Rights insufficient (much like Obama), just read that infamous SoTU Address; and that he championed the UN. However, there are far too many legitimate attacks of FDR for us to needlessly go inventing new ones. To intimate that FDR favored a single world government because in 1935 he ordered that seal be put on the US dollar is just silly. First off, the literal translation of the Latin phrase is "New Order for the Ages." And the plural on "ages" is important, because even in the loose translation of "New World Order" it applies and would then read: "New Worlds Order", which makes no sense outside of the afore mentioned Galactic Senate. In addition, that specific seal, with the pyramid, MDCCLXXVI (1776 in Roman Numerals) and Norvus Ordo Seclorum on one side, and the eagle with coat of arms (etc) on the other (positioned left and right on the reverse of the US $1 bill) is the official seal of the United States and has been since 1782, when the Continental Congress declared it so. In fact, the Secretary of the Congress Charles Thompson whom submitted the Seal for approval, was the first to use it "officially." He stamped a US document - a prisoner exchange conducted and signed by none other then George Washington. The Continental Congress, George Washington, Jefferson and Franklin (whom both voted for the seal), were they "one world government" acolytes? The Founders intended it to mean the "new American era." FDR was the first to put the seal on the currency in 1935, noting that Norvus Ordo Seclorum somewhat reminded him of another little phrase - New Deal. In either case, a one world government has nothing to do with it.

Look, Beck, buddy, pal. I'm just me. I don't have a cadre of researchers and professional assistants. You're too valuable a voice to get simple stuff like this wrong. We need you to be better then these lazy affiliations asserted just to smack FDR around.

Use better stuff - read our blog.
