The Fleecing of America

You can say what you want about Boeing and the construction of the KC-45 but if you want to see what happens when there is little to no competition within the purchasing process of military aircraft look at how much of the military defense budget goes to Lockheed Martin. Those guys are thieves of a brand new vareity. If you want to get sick to your stomach look at all of the contracts that Lockheed has and the vareity of gear they produce or are sub-contractors for and you will see what I'm talking about. Competition is a great thing and since we don't always go to the lowest bidder anymore we have been receiving better gear to work with but for the money we have to work with alot less is some cases. Replacement of older aircraft is getting tougher and alot more expensive. If the DOD wants to find us a better product for less money and it has to go to a foreign company maybe it will wake up the US manufacturers and make them rethink how much they are robbing our defense budget specifically acquisition of new gear. I'm not saying I like the fact that they will be paying some foreign owned companies but if it will stop some of the bleeding of the budget and put more money in the hands of the DOD to support troops directly and still get us the gear we need...well I say go for it.

once again, one mans opinion

This is an excellent point! And who better to make it than a USAF non-com with decades of experience working with aircraft and aircraft parts?

Baddboy should be making these points for me... he's doing a far better job.

Just a side note - I always hear liberals (not badboy) screaming about oil and defense contracts being a closed bid processes. Hallaburton is a political word all its own now, but they turn right around and demand there be NO choice, No competition, and a closed bid to a monopolistic beuracracy when it come to federal education dollars. Vouchers are evil yet hallaburton needs more competion - how does that make sense?
